Cultural differences in the journalistic English translation and the cultivation of intercultural awareness

新闻翻译既是各国语言的转换,也是各国文化的交流。中西方在地理自然环境、生活习惯、宗教信仰、历史典故等方面有差异,因此造成很大的文化差异,这就要求新闻翻译者必须提高跨文化意识。深刻理解文化差异才能使翻译者在跨文化交际中进行准确的翻译。新闻翻译者除了掌握翻译基础理论知识,还要深入了解中西方文化,培养跨文化意识。

Journalistic translation is both the transition between different languages and the communication between different cultures.While there are a lot of differences between eastern and western cultures due to the different geographical environment and natural conditions,different religious beliefs,different living habits and different historical allusions.Thus,it is required that the translators must have the intercultural awareness in the process of translating.Therefore,translators should not only be fa-miliar with such basic theoretical knowledge as the studies of translation and intercultural communication,but also make a thor-ough study of western culture and eastern culture,strengthen and develop intercultural awareness.
