Wen Gongyi was a scholar and thinker who made great theoretical contributions to the studies of the history of Chinese logic in contemporary China.With regard to topics of legitimacy and rationality in the History of Chinese Logic,Wen Gongyi fully affirmed the existence of logic in ancient China,and expounded upon the rich contents and developmental process of ancient Chinese logic in details through comprehensive and systematic studies.He divided those pre-Qin logical thoughts into two schools'Bian Zhe'and'Zheng Ming',which accurately described the basic clues of the logic development in ancient China.He put forward that'Sanwu Logic'and'Intensional Logic'were the important characteristics of the history of Chinese logic,and validated the differences in contents and traits between Chinese and Western logic.Wen Gongyi insisted on utilizing methods unifying logic and history to interpret the relationship between the development of the history of Chinese logic and the development of ancient Chinese culture.His research methods,based on original works and categorical analysis,provided an important theoretical reference for the development of the study of the history of Chinese logic.
