五四运动承前启后引领中国精神实现了第一次现代转换,使中国传统的忠君爱国精神转化为具有忧国忧民的危机意识、振兴中华的使命担当和不畏牺牲的家国情怀的救亡图存精神;使中国传统的民本精神转化为追求个体独立品格、反对独裁与压迫、拥有当家作主权利意识的民主精神;使中国传统的和而不同精神转化为具有创新、理性、包容等现代内涵的科学精神。

The May 4th Movement led the first modern transformation of Chinese spirit:the Chinese traditional patriotic loyalty spirit turned into the national salvation spirit,including the crisis awareness of caring for the country and the people,the mission responsibility of rejuvenating the Chinese nation and the patriotism with no fear of sacrifice;the Chinese traditional people-oriented spirit turned into the democratic spirit of pursuing individual independence,opposing dictatorship and oppression,possessing the consciousness of right to be the masters of the country;the Chinese traditional spirit of harmony in diversity turned into the scientific spirit of modern connotations such as innovation,rationality and tolerance,etc.
