Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine ZHANG Zhiyuan’s Experience in Treating Schizophrenia

张志远教授为国医大师、全国名老中医,业医七十余载,博古通今,临床经验丰富,人称'活字典'。张老临床治疗癫狂重视肝、脾两脏,主要从气血痰火入手,善用涤痰开窍、活血破瘀、疏肝健脾之法以辨证施治,治病求本。在用药上,区分癫与狂,用药亦不同,重用大黄、茯神、龙骨三味药,常据证运用化痰醒神汤、二胡开散汤、迷宫解郁汤、当归散加味等方治疗癫狂。此外,张老在药物干预治疗的基础上还重视运用'以情胜情'的精神疗法。

Professor ZHANG Zhiyuan is a master and famous doctor of traditional Chinese medicine in China.He has been engaged in medicine for more than 70 years and has rich clinical experience,and so he is called a living dictionary.Professor ZHANG attaches importance to the liver and spleen in the clinical treatment of schizophrenia,mainly starting with Qi,blood,phlegm and fire,and is good at using the methods of eliminating phlegm and inducing resuscitation,activating blood circulation to remove blood stasis,and soothing liver and strengthening spleen.These methods are based on syndrome differentiation and treatment in order to search the primary cause of disease in treatment.In his medication,it distinguishes between epilepsy and madness,and so the medication is also different.He pays more attention to the application of Dahuang(Rheum palmatum L.),Fushen[Poria cocos(Schw.)Wolf]and Longgu(Fossilia Ossis Mastrodi),and often uses Huatan Xingshen Decoction,Erhu Kaisan Decoction,Migong Jieyu Decoction,and adds other medicines to Danggui Powder to treat schizophrenia.In addition,on the basis of medical treatment,Professor ZHANG also attaches importance to the use of‘conquer emotions with emotion’psychotherapy.
