摘要
本文简要地回顾了我国大学英语教改在将近半个世纪以来所走过的一条不平坦的道路并从中总结了正反两方面的经验。本文还从我国实情出发,根据外语教学的客观规律和英语专家们的经验之谈,进一步论证了读与写在我国英语教育中的重要性。文章还指出我国大学英语教学属于综合教育型的英语教育,不能与特殊目的型的英语训练相提并论。
This paper looks back on the ups and downs in the process of college English language teaching reforms in our country over the past 50 years and thence draws useful lessons that we can fall back on in furthering the reform. The paper also attempts to argue that in China English should be taught as a foreign language and therefore top priority should be given to reading and writing. It mentions in passing that distinction must be made between English language education for integrative purposes and English language training for specific purposes.
