An Analysis of Referent Accessibility in Discourse

摘要 所指关系这一现象在语言中是普遍存在的.本文从心理认知角度着重探讨话语所指物可及性问题.对英汉真实话语的考察证明,可及性理论观点对话语所指物/实体可及性具有解释力.更明确地说,这些理论观点在很大程度上能够对说话者为表达某一实体而选用一定指述词语的动机做出解释,并为听话者对其推导提供理据. Reference is omnipresent in natural language. This article looks at the issue of referent accessibility in discourse from a mental-cognitive angle. The analysis of authentic discourses has indicated that the accessibility theory and other principles concerned may well explain the phenomenon of referent accessibility in discourse; to put it more plainly, these theories can largely account for the speaker's choice of a referring expression to express a referent/entity and justify the hearer's interpretation of it.
