A Study of Bing Xin’s Translation Style——Take the Chinese Version of Sand and Foam as an Example

冰心翻译的《沙与沫》译本堪称散文诗翻译的经典作品,被业界公认为文学翻译的佳作。其翻译风格典雅清丽,优美润泽,明白晓畅。以译本为例,从选词、用句和修辞等方面对译本的风格加以探究,剖析译者对散文诗翻译过程的操控,巧妙地将直译和意译相结合,既忠实原文又有所变通,在通达顺畅的基础上兼顾行文之美。

Bing Xin’s translation of Sand and Foam can be regarded as a classic work of prose poetry translation, and a masterpiece of literary translation. Her translation is elegant, graceful, clear and smooth. Taking the Chinese version of Sand and Foam as an example, this paper probes into Bing Xin’s style of translation from the aspects of word and sentence structure selection, and rhetoric devices to analyze how the translator manipulates of the process of prose poem translation, skillfully combines literal translation with free translation, keeps both faithful to the original text and flexible in expression, taking into account both the beauty of the text and the expressiveness and smoothness.
