A Preliminary Report on the Excavation of the Joint Tomb of Ming Dynasty Official Shen Yingshi and His Wife

2012年2~6月,洛阳市文物考古研究院在洛阳市定鼎北路以西、苗南村东南发掘清理一批明代墓葬,发现了明南京工部尚书沈应时夫妇合葬墓。该墓为长斜坡墓道穹隆顶土洞墓,出土了彩绘陶俑、日用陶器及墓志等文物,为研究洛阳地区明代葬俗提供了一批重要资料。

Between February and June 2012,the Luoyang Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology excavated a cluster of Ming tombs located southeast of the Village of Miaonan and west of North Ding Ding Road,including the joint tomb of Shen Yingshi,the head of the Ministry of Works in Nanjing,and his wife.It was an earthen chamber tomb with a long slopping passage and a domed chamber and yielded a group of painted pottery figurines,household objects and two epitaph tablets,and its excavation has proved rich materials for archaeological research on the burial customs of the Ming Dynasty in the Luoyang area.
