摘要
虽然很多文献讨论了人类语言如何省略主语,鲜有研究涉及人类语言如何省略宾语。本文通过对比中文的动宾词组和英语动宾结构在宾语省略方面的特征,推断世界上的任何一个语言都只能有一种宾语省略机制,即建立在宾语名词属性上的机制。一种语言或者可以省略可以通过语境复原的非通指宾语,这包含定指、不定指和特指名词,如汉语,或者可以省略无法通过语境复原的通指宾语,如英语。
Although subject deletion has been widely discussed in the literature, very little research has been done on the deletion of object in languages. This article first compares the characteristics pertaining to object drop in Chinese VO compounds and in English VO structure.I conclude that each language can have only one mechanism when it comes to object omission,which is related to the referentiality of the object nouns. A language like Chinese can omit nongeneric objects that can be recovered from context, which includes definite, indefinite, and specific nouns. A language like English, on the other hand, can omit generic objects that cannot be recovered from the context.
