1986年《中外文学》推出"女性主义文学批评专号",台湾女性主义文学批评初具规模。20世纪50年代以来,台湾女性文学迅速崛起并繁荣起来,成为台湾女性主义文学批评的现实基础。西方女性主义理论的繁荣和传播成为台湾女性主义文学批评的理论基础。加之当时妇女普遍受到关注的大环境促进了女性主义文学批评在台湾的接受和传播。
