In the article, firstly the author introduces the basic concept and technology of Electric Data Interchange.Then,the author analyses the technological and social conditions in the application of EDI to containerized traffic from communication?computer application?standardization and legal the four aspects.Finally,the author introduces the application of EDI to containerized traffic in our country.From firstly putting forward the concept of EDI and applying EDI to containerized traffic in the beginning of 80′s of the last century to combining EDI and EPI to form 'applied message system'at present.Based that,the author produces the Internet-based EDI and analyses the existing problems in the Internet-based EDI system from security?standardization and legal the three aspects.
