孔子删诗说考辨及新证

An Investigation and Fresh Verification of the Remark of Confucius's Deleting the Book of Poetry

"孔子删诗说"是诗经学史上聚讼纷纭的一大公案。纵观历来的争论,主要集中在逸诗的多少、《左传》季札观乐的记载、《论语》所言之"诗三百"、司马迁所言之"去其重,取可施于礼义"、正乐与删诗及孔子有无权力删诗五个问题上。通过对上述问题进行详细考辨,并结合最近整理出版的上海博物馆藏战国楚竹书《孔子诗论》所提供的新证,不难看出否定论者的种种理由都不能成立,"孔子删诗说"不容置疑和否认。

The 'remark of Confucius's deleting The Book of Poetry' remains a wellknown disputable case in the history of the st ud y of The Book of Poetry. A diachronic view reveals that all di spute s spotlight the following five issues, namely, how many poems were lost accordin g to the record in the part of Ji Zha inspecting music in 'Zuo's Chronicles' ,'300 poems in all' as was mentioned in The Analects, 'dele ting the duplications and preserving the sound advocating propriety' as was remarked by Sima Qian, normalizing music, deleting The Book of Poetry and whether Confucius was entitled to do so. Through a careful investigation of the abovementioned issues and according to the fresh evidences offered in the rece n tly revised edition of 'Confucius's Poetics' on Bamboo Slips from the Kingdom of Chu in the Warring Kingdom Period in stock in Shanghai Museum, it is clear e nough that the 'remark of Confucius's deleting The Book of Poetry' admits no suspicion and denial and that the miscellaneous reasons offere d by those deniers are all groundless.
