A Discussion on Some Questions Relating to the Chinese Translation of Proto- col on the Accession of the People's Republic of China

本文主要讨论与Protocol on the Accession of the People’s Republic of China汉译有关的若干问题。这些问题主要涉及对一些词语的修饰范围的不同理解和专用术语的翻译。通过对英文例句作语法分析,调查WTO法律文件中的有关用法,和参考WTO的有关规则,笔者对Protocol on the Accession of the People’s Republic of China两个中文版本中的个别译文提出了自己的看法。

This paper focuses on six translational problems arising from the understanding of the scope of modification in some NPs and the meaning of some special terms in the text of Protocol on the Accession of the People 's Republic of China. Through grammatical analysis and with reference to the relevant usages in the WTO documentation and the regulations and rules of the organization in general, the author proposes some improvements on the existing two Chinese translations of the document.
