四时规律被上古先民认为是宇宙的第一规律 ,这是前诸子时期非常重要的一种自然观。全面体现这种自然观的就是《月令》文献系统。代表中国古代主体思维方式的阴阳五行就是在吸收、融摄该系统观念过程中发展起来的。《月令》观念系统通过影响阴阳五行在某种程度上决定着中国古代哲学思想的基本面貌。

The rules implied by the four seasons used to be considered as the first rules in the universe, which speaks for the important natural viewpoints of Chinese pioneer scholars.The viewpoints of nature are described in Yueling literatures, which give rise to the existence of the concept of Yin-Yang and five elements (metal, wood, water, fire, and earth), the principal way of thinking in ancient China. The Yueling literatures have greatly influenced the Yin-Yang and five elements, serving as the decisive foundation for the ancient Chinese philosophy. Hence, the exploration by means of four seasons leading to the Yin-Yang and five elements is the creative way.
