唐代是一个富有开创性的时代 ,作为社会生活重要方面的婚姻亦不例外。由于正史中有关民间民族间自由通婚的记述乏善可称 ,而唐律的规定又过于法律化 ,与现实生活并不完全对等 ,现存汇辑野史传记小说诸家的最大一部类书《太平广记》中的丰富文献史料可补正史之不足。唐代民族之间的自然融合带来了大范围的通婚 ,从国家政策看 ,政府并不鼓励这种通婚 ,通过《太平广记》

As Tang dynasty is an era full of pioneering spirit, there was no exception to marriage. Since there was little record about the civil ethnic marriages in the formal historical records and the law in Tang dynasty attached too much importance to judicial rules and regulations and was not quite matched with the real life, the author thinks that Tai Ping Guang Ji, the biggest volume in history, which contains legends, autobiography, novels, etc., can fill the gap. The natural association among peoples in Tang dynasty brought about the large scope of ethnic marriages. From the angle of the national policies at that time, the government did not encourage the marriages. We can learn from the Fox Chapter in Tai Ping Guang Ji, that people in Zhongyuan were against the marriages between Han and minorities.
