On the Phenomena of Sexism in English

语言是社会的一面镜子,社会中男女不平等现象也生动地体现在语言上。英语中的性别歧视表明英语是以男性为中心的语言,偏向男性,自然地贬低女性。英语中经常出现的一些词语的用法以及女性自己对英语使用的许多特征有力地证明了这一点。从语言与社会关系的角度可对英语中的性别歧视现象作初步的论述。

Language is a mirror of society. Social inequality is reflected vividly in language. Sexism in English shows that English is malecentered, biased in favor of men, derogatory towards women. The frequently occurred phenomena of sexism in words and expressions of the English language, as well as many characteristics of women's own use of English are convincing evidence. This paper illustrates the phenomenon of sexism in English from the angle of language and its relationship with society.
