明代 ,湖南戏剧创作尚处于兴起阶段 ,出现了一位重要的南杂剧作家———许潮。他的杂剧合集《泰和记》大都取材于历史文人典故 ,借以抒情 ,寄托理想。其戏曲艺术的主要成就在于对元杂剧体制进行的全面革新 ,促成了明代杂剧创作的再度繁荣。他与另两位戏剧作家龙膺。

Xu Chao was one of the most important “Southern” type dramatist in Ming Dynasty while the drama creation in Hunan just began.His “Tales of Tai-he” drew its material from historical figures and events,which expressed his emotion and ideals.And he made all-round breakthrough in the conventions of drama writing and contributed greatly to the re-flourish of the drama. His writing, along with that of Long Ying and Li Jiu-biao, marked the springing-up of Hunan drama creation.
