The construction of intelligent reactive power compensator, which can be installed on 10 kV distribution line poles, was introduced. The features of intelligent control function including basic mode, backup mode and condition mode were described. The profit raised from application was analyzed through an application example to indicate that the intelligent reactive power compensator will contribute to energy saving of distribution network, especially for rural power grid.
