In Moby Dick,Melville indicates his ethnical conflicts from the beginning to the end. He had the loyalty in Christianity, yet meanwhile, he also showed his rebellious tendency. The author of the thesis tries to analyze Melvilles struggle in religious belief from three aspects. They are fatalism and rebellion, belief and suspicion, universal love and selfishness. The purpose of the analyzing is to understand the masterpiece more deeply.
