The Natural Features of Chinese Rhythm

汉语韵律研究必须立足于汉语的特点,必须先弄清楚它的自然特征。古代诗词格律源于自然语言节律,形成一种压倒句法的强制性格式,可以作为探讨汉语节律自然特征的依据。本文主要讨论关于节律的三个相关问题:1.音步长度的确认及其类型;2.音步组合的松紧及其规律;3.律动要素的选择及其位置。

Research into Chinese rhyme must be based on the characteristics of Chinese, and a clear understanding of its natural features must be acquired first. The rhythm of ancient poetry originates in the rhythm of the natural language itself, and forms a powerful pattern which prevails over grammatical structure. Therefore, it offers itself as a reliable basis on which an inquiry into the natural features of Chinese rhythm can be made. This essay mainly deals with three relevant questions with regard to rhythm: (1) identification and classification of the length of foot ; (2) compactness of foot combination and its rules; (3) choice and position of rhythm.
