The scarcity of clothing,the worship of God and the low level of productive force are the main causes for the presence of naked athletes in ancient Olympic arena. With the development of society, the changes of people' s evaluation on beauty and the improvement of productive force, sports costume in modern physical education has undergone great changes in style from conservatism to openness, to pragmatism and then to the adoption of science and technology. A new type of sports costume full of high - tech elements and multi - functions is bound to be the development tendency in order to promote the rapid development of modern sports.
