4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde (vanillin) is an important perfumery and chemical intermediate, which is widely used in pharmaceutical .perfumery and food flavoring industries. The synthesis method of vanillin is described in detail in this paper. A more promising and practical synthesis method is proposed.
