This article systematically remarks the structure and the status quo of the continuous teacher education system in Russia. Having analyzed the functional changes of the main constituents of the system in the process of Russian social transformation, it briefly introduces the Russian government's scheme for the continuous teacher education system in the first decade of the new century.
