《天问》有关历史情况的提问 ,内容丰富 ,主题鲜明 ,特征突出。屈原以诗歌形式探讨了历代王朝(以夏商周为中心 )的兴亡史 ,包含着治乱兴亡无常的命运感、悲凉感和危机感 ,充满着悲剧意识。他以求证、求真的理性态度看待历史 ,敢于冲破传统历史观的束缚 ,对历史上的兴亡事件、人事变迁等提出问题 ,或质疑 ,或求证 ,或影射 ,或讥讽 ,或评判 ,其间时时闪烁着批判的锋芒 。

Qu Yuans distinct theme and prominent features, reflected in the questions about history, enrich the poetry Tian Wen, in which the history of the rise and fall of some dynasties (mainly the Xia, Shang, Zhou Dynasties) have been discussed. The whole poetry is full of awareness of tragedy. In rational attitudes, Qu Yuan proposes many questions about the historical events through which his progressing historical views can be seen.
