In this paper, theory of elastic stability is applied in the research of both pure arch and cable-arch hybrid structure on which a concentrated load acts at the middle point of a span and stability equations are presented. How both the concerned prestress and place connecting cable to arch affects a limit concentrated load is analysed and compared by examples. The conclusions can be used as reference in designing cable-arch structures.
