湖北社会稳定是其重要战略机遇期中压倒一切的问题。影响湖北社会稳定的因素包括世界格局转换中的外部因素,国内体制转换中的内部因素,以及与传统有着历史渊源的因袭因素。消灭危及社会稳定的因子,维护湖北稳定,应从四个方面着手:推进经济体制改革、发展地方经济;坚持四项基本原则,发展民主政治;发展培育先进文化,加强并改进思想政治工作;加强政法工作和国家安全工作,建设人民军队。

Maintaining Hubei's stability, we should make measures from four aspects; Pushing forward the economic system reform, developing local economy; insisting on four basic principles, developing the democracy; developing and growing the advanced culture, enhancing and improving the thought political work; enhancing the political and law work and the work of the national security, building up the people's army.
