从语域理论看英译散文意境的塑造

The Creation of Prose Artistic Conception from the Perspective of Register Theory

散文被称为美文,得益于其情感真挚、言语优美、意境深邃、富于文采。意境是散文的生命,也是翻译能否成功的关键所在。目前,对散文英译的探究虽仍处于摸索阶段,对散文意境的翻译研究更是在少数。以韩礼德为代表的语域理论作为系统功能语言学的重要理论之一,近年来也被越来越多地与翻译研究相结合,语域理论的三个变项,即语场、语旨、语式,为语篇的解释和语义的交流提供了社会环境。本文从这三方面来探讨其对英译散文意境塑造的指导作用,以期能从一个新的视角研究散文意境的重构,再现原作风格。

Prose is also been called as belles-lettres for its sincere emotion,beautiful language,profound artistic conception,and literary grace.Artistic conception is the life of a prose,as well as the key for a successful translation.Now the research on prose translation is still on groping stage,and that on the translation of prose artistic conception is even rarer.As one of the crucial parts of systemic functional linguistics,register theory,represented by Halliday,has been more and more frequently combined with translation studies in recent years.The three variables of register theory,namely,field,tenor and mode,provide a social environment for discourse interpretation and semantic communication.This essay mainly discusses its directive function to the creation of prose artistic conception from these three variables,with the hope of providing a new perspective on the recreation of prose artistic conception and thus reproducing the original style.
