The production,demand,supply and process of folic acid at home and abroad are analyzed.The global production capacity of folic acid was 1 000 tons a year,and the consumption was 950 t in 2002.The demand for folic acid is expected to grow at an average rate of 5% to 8 %,and up to 1 800 t by 2010.China is the main production area of folic acid in the world.In 2002,Chinas production capacity and output was 500 t/a and 430 t/a respectively.It is pointed out that the domestic production scales are very small with high production costs and serious corrosion of equipment,which hinder the development of folic acid and its derivatives.
