13世纪阿拉伯学者雅鹘特的《地名辞典》是一部世界地理志,辑录的村、镇、遗址、人烟墟里极为详尽。其中对蒙古人西征中亚的记述恰恰是,也只能是成吉思汗及拖雷等人所进行的首次蒙古西征。本文将《地名辞典》所辑录的与成吉思汗西征有关的资料,同《元史》"太祖本纪"的相关记载进行比较,从而考察蒙古人首次来到中亚地区的具体情形,并对《元史》的"西北地附录"的若干地名作一点考证。
