初唐“四杰”与《楚辞》

The "Four Geniuses of Letters" of the Early Tang Dynasty and the Songs of Chu

“四杰”作为初唐文学革新的前驱者,在反对齐梁文风方面是一致的。他们所提倡的都是儒家传统的诗教观,这很容易导致对屈原产生偏见,王勃和卢照邻就曾经对屈原有所指责。骆宾王、杨炯对于屈原的认识与王勃、卢照邻又不同,他们两人都不曾贬低过屈原。政治上的不幸遭遇,使王勃和卢照邻对于屈原的认识在后期也有所改变。在创作上,“四杰”都受到了《楚辞》的深刻影响,无论是在作品的内容方面,还是在表现手法方面,“四杰”对屈原都有着明显的继承。

The 'four geniuses of letters', as pioneers in literary innovation in the early Tang Dynasty, were unanimously against the style of the Qi and the Liang, two previous dynasties. They all advocated the traditional Confucian doctrine that poetic function is instructive, which easily caused their bias against Qu Yuan. Wang Bo and Lu Zhao-ling both once criticized Qu Yuan, while the assessment of Luo Bin-wang and Yang Jiong differed from that of Wang Bo and Lu Zhao-ling in the former two had never played down the importance of Qu Yuan. Unfortunate mishaps in politics led to some modification in Wang's and Lu's understanding of Qu Yuan in their later life. In artistic creation, the 'four geniuses' all received profound influence from the Songs of Chu. So no matter in the content of their works or in their expressive virtuosity, the 'four geniuses' obviously received the legacy of Qu Yuan.
