Cai Yuanpei and the exchange of higher education between China and foreign countries in modern ages

蔡元培所开展的中外高等教育交流活动 ,为中国近代高等教育的创立和发展提供了欧美各国的经验和模式 ,并形成了他自己的思路和看法。如应兼采美、法等国的高等教育管理体制 ,既要地方自治 ,又要加强中央对全国教育事业的统一管理 ;应重视和强化大学服务社会的功能 ;大学教育应重在发展学生个性 。

The Sino\|Foreign exchanges of higher education proposed by Cai Yuanpei proffer experience and mode of Euro\|American countries for the establishment and development of the Chinese modern higher education. He has formed his distinctive thought and view. For instance, we should critically adopt the management system of higher education from countries like the United States and France \|local autonomy on one hand and strengthening unified management of the central authority to the national educational course; we should emphasize and enhance the service function of colleges for society; and college education should focus on developing students' personality and cultivating students' creativity.
