Distinguished poets as Hu Shi, Guo Moruo and Ai Qing have played an important role in establishing and developing new poetry but the overcorrecting behavior has resulted in a negative influence of the tradition of new poetry and a latent crisis in new poetry consciousness. The defect in each construction of new poetry lies in the neglect of the characteristics of Chinese poetry itself.
