L2 Learning Motivation Research and Its Problems

第二语言学习动机研究经历了由 2 0世纪 70年代的兴盛期、80年代的沉寂期到目前的复苏阶段。本文分析了过去 30多年来不同阶段的相关研究文献 ,确认了第二语言学习动机研究中存在的问题。这些问题包括人们在第二语言学习动机理解上的分歧、过于单一的研究视角 ,以及研究方法本身存在的缺陷等问题。文章还简要分析了产生这些问题的原因及其影响 ,并就如何解决这些问题提出了建议。

This paper examines L2 motivation research in different stages. Literature review indicates that previous research has suffered such problems as researchers' disagreement in the conception of L2 motivation, narrow perspectives on motivation, and the limited set of research techniques. These problems are believed to have impeded the further development of L2 motivation research. This paper also attempts to identify the factors causing these problems and made some suggestions for the future L2 motivation research.
