The paper mainly expresses the characteristic function of Jiamu in 'Dream of the Red Chamber' . The author holds that there are four perspectives: providing the characteristic model, illuminating the double themes, constructing the narrative structures and strengthening the aesthetics in formation. After analysis, we find that the function of a character is multiple.
