Speed Up the Development of Producing Town Gas from Coal

发展城市煤气是城市现代化的重要组成部分,是减少环境污染,节约能源,方便人民群众,发展工业生产的一项重要措施。从世界范围看,城市民用燃料气体化,已成为主要发展方向。国外工业先进国家已广泛应用城市煤气。美国、法国城市居民使用煤气的已超过85％,日本已达98％。我国目前还是以直接燃煤为主,目前全国大中城市8800万人中,使用城市煤气的居民只有1600万人,普及率约为18％,近年来直接烧煤造成的恶果,愈来愈看得清楚,城市居民及有关部门,要求使用煤气的呼声越来越高。我们必须贯彻党中央的指示精神,加快发展城市煤气事业。

-In this paper the importance of developing town gas with coal gasification process is described. Four processes for production of town gas are introduced, that is: pressurized gasification -with dry ash,two stage gasification,production of town gas with coke oven and with continuous vertical coke oven. The author points out that selection of suitable process technology according to region and coal type is the correct way of development. Coke oven gas should be fully utilized in the near term period,but in the future gas produced from coal gasification should become the main source of town gas for the supply of large and medium size cities. The cost of gas produced from pressurized gasification with dry ash process is high. Therefore in this paper some measures and ways are put forward for cost reduction.Finally the author points out that it is more economic to use medium-BTU gas as town gas according to the status in China.
