The main breakdown of electric motor on drum shearer is the damage of stator winding.Its because the comprehensive effect of electricity,heat and mechanical stress and environmental influence on stator winding during long term start-up and operation.Winding insulation can gradually age or damage.Therefore improving the insulation quality of stator winding on electric motor is the key of increasing the lifetime of motor.In this paper analyzing Chinese-made insulation materials and technology the insulation system is determined,such as category of insulation,insulation material and insulation structure etc.Detail descriptions are given to tests of electrlc motor on drum shearer,such as pressure test between circles,overload test,water cutoff test,free operation frequency test,close start-up test,frequent start-up test.These tests show that the prototype insulation is fine and reliable.
