在举国欢腾,热烈庆祝建国35周年之际,我怀着兴奋的心情,通过《煤炭科学技术》,向辛勤战斗在煤炭工业战线的科技工作者和广大职工致以亲切的慰问. 建国以来,煤炭工业各个方面硕果累累,成就很大。地质勘探方面探明储量7000多亿吨;基本建设方面建成矿井1834处,能力4.5亿吨,形成100万吨以上的矿区82个,其中年产1000万吨以上的11个;

In the past 35 years,great achievements have been obtained in every field,of coal mining:the proven geological reserves amount to over 700 billion tons;1,834 collieries have been built;ROM coal production reached 715 million tons in 1983,about 21 fold increase over that in 1949,China leaping from the ninth to the third big coal producing country in the world.Such tremendous development of coal mining is closely related to that of science and technology. Currently,the coal industry is still very backward in science and technology.This does not match with the position of coal in the primary energy,and can not cope with the future difficult tasks in front of us.Now a new technical revolution springs up.For the coal industry it is necessry to conduct R & D and to introduce actively new techniques,such that the strategic goal of producing 1.2 billion tons of coal,and afire changes'might be realized.The technical personnel in coal mining should foster lofty ideals,set high goals,devote themselves to the goal,combine theory with practice,study assiduously and strive for the development of R & D in coal mining.
