this paper describes a series cf protections installed on a main belt conveyor system in Kailuan Mining Administration. The protections for a cable belt conveyor are those for disengagement of cable with trough of pulley, belt breakage, over-run of nun-riding. The protections for powerful belt conveyors and conventional' belt conveyors are belt breakage, belt slip, belt mistracking, reverse running, prefull load signal and coal level indicators, protections installed along the belt conveyor, surge chute and roller protections against surge load.
