On Interpretation and Practical Use of Poems by Emperors of Han Dynasty

汉代帝王多习《诗》,甚至部分帝王兼习数家《诗》。他们也提倡通《诗》致用,即依据《诗经》或其经学阐释来制定各种政策或采取各种政治行为等。在他们的影响下,汉人改变了先秦《诗经》"不切于世用"的特征,而广泛用《诗》;同时,这也促进了汉代《诗经》与政治的结合,促进了《诗经》阐释的政治化。

Most of the emperors of the Han Dynasty studied poems,and some of them tried to learn about more than one poet. They also called for interpretation and practical use of poems,that is,formulating all sorts of policies or adopting political behaviors based on The Book of Songs,or its interpretation,and because of their influence,the people of that time changed the characteristic of ' not being practical' which is popular during the Qin Dynasty. Hence,the integration of The Book of Songs and politic,and their politicization were also promoted
