On Ways to Cultivate the Consciousness of the Chinese Nation Community

'中华民族共同体意识'强调的是我国56个民族对统一的中华人民共和国的认同,对共同的中华历史文化的认同,对中国特色社会主义制度的认同。铸牢中华民族共同体意识是基于我国历史上民族关系发展演进的客观进程和今天56个民族求发展求进步的基本国情而提出的重大命题。中华民族共同体意识是多元的、立体的,其核心是文化共同体意识和政治共同体意识。因此,培育中华民族共同体意识的重要路径是增强国民对各民族相互依存、团结奋斗、共创中华民族共同历史的认同,增强国民对最具影响力和穿透力、作为中华民族共同体的'根'与'魂'的中华文化的认同,增强国民对中华民族何以能够站起来、富起来、强起来的中国共产党的领导和中国特色社会主义道路的认同。

The consciousness of the Chinese nation community emphasizes the recognition of the unified People’s Republic of China,the Chinese history and culture and the socialist system with Chinese characteristics by 56 ethnic groups in China.Forging the consciousness of the Chinese nation community is an important proposition proposed according to the objective process of the development and evolution of ethnic relations in Chinese history as well as the current fundamental realities of seeking development and progress of all 56 ethnic groups.This consciousness is pluralistic and multi-dimensional.Its core is made up of cultural community consciousness and political community consciousness.Therefore,the important way to cultivate it is to enhance people’s recognition of interdependence,unity and struggle of all ethnic groups to create the common history of the Chinese nation;enhance their recognition of the most influential and penetrating Chinese culture which is the root and soul of the national community;and enhance their recognition of the CPC’s leadership and the socialist road with Chinese characteristics which have enabled the Chinese nation to stand up,become rich and strong.
