Amino-7-chloro-5-fluoro-2,3-dihydro-2-methl- benzofuran is the intermediate for the synthesis of some new herbicide. The chemical route for the synthesis of the compound is as follows: ethyl 4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-hydroxy- phenyl amino-carboxylate is etherified at first, and then hydrolyzed, transformed, and cyclized to obtain the above compound. The total yield is 21.7% from the starting material. The chemical structure has been identified by NMR.
