摘要
西汉末年儒生之归附王莽是因为西汉在制度及其运作的两个层面均不能满足其入仕的要求,而不是为了通过王莽实现其千百年来的“政治理想”。刘秀“尊崇节义”重用儒生的本质一方面是满足儒生的利禄追求,一方面是在精神和制度两个层面加强对儒生的控制,把儒生彻底地文吏化;儒生遂彻底放弃其批判、改造现实的传统而以“吏事”为业,导致了儒学衰退的同时,也消弭了儒生的伦理实践。
The reason the Confucian scholars submitted to the authority of Wang Mang(王莽)in the last years of the West Han dynasty was that the system and it's operation of the West Han dynasty could not satisfy the desire of their being officials , their aims were not to fulfill their long - standing 'political ideal . The essence of emperor Liu Xiu 'homaging moral integrity ' and putting the Confucian scholars in a very important position was to meet the pursuit of their fame and salary on the one hand , and to reinforce the control over the scholars through both spirit and system and make them civil services completely on the other hand . Therefore , the Confucian scholars fully abandoned their tradition of criticizing and changing the reality and regarded 'the official affairs ' as their careers . All of this resulted in the declination of the Confucian knowledge and put an end to the ethic practices of the Confucian scholars.
