“夙夜悉心 ,惟民实忧”是蔡襄对自己作为知州的职责之理解和认识 ,并且付诸实践之中。他与泉州有一种特别的因缘 ,在两知泉州前后为泉州做了几件切实的事 ,倾注其对泉州由衷的人文关怀。其所以如此 ,源自其民本思想。后人对其多美政 ,“称太守之贤者 ,必以公为首” ,至今仍感念之 ,并非偶然。文中对陈善批评洛阳桥记有所辨证。
