A Product of Hard-won Art——On Tragic Source of Long Day's Journey Into Night by Eugene O′Neill

现实主义杰作《进入黑夜的漫长旅程》是公认的奥尼尔悲剧创作的最高成就 ,这是一部自传性极为浓厚的剧本 ,倾注了剧作家的血和泪。本文试图从三个方面 ,即从资本主义社会中的社会因素 。

The realistic tragic drama of Long Day's Journey Into Night marks the climax of Eugene O'Neill's literary career. As a product of hard-won art, the play can be read autobiographically since some parts of the story are fairly closely based on O'Neill's own family. This paper tries to analyse and discuss the tragic source of this drama from three points, that is, social factor in capitalist society, the internal quality of human nature and the dramatist's viewpoint of tragic destiny.
