A Cultural Approach to American "Exporting Democracy

美国"输出民主"的外交战略深深植根于美国文化传统,具有浓厚的理想色彩,从表面上看具有利他性;但在实际执行过程中,输出民主的理想追求往往从属于其他现实利益,成为美国实现政治、经济、安全等国家利益的工具。正是这种表面上的"利他"和实质上的"利己"的矛盾性,使"输出民主"战略的虚伪性日渐暴露,从而受到越来越强烈的抵制。

The American strategy of 'exporting democracy' is deeply rooted in the American traditional cultural values, which gives the strategy a strong idealistic color and a superficial altruisticness. But in operation, the strategy often gives way to realistic interests and serves the national interests of politics, economy as well as security. It is the gap between the declared altruism and the actual egoism that reveals the hypocrisy of the strategy, which results in a growing resistance to the strategy. 
