SUN Wu-kong is one of comedy images which have struck deep roots in people's hearts. Strong tragic factors are hiding behind this comedy image. In this thesis, the writer starts from the point of Jinguer and the contradictory attitudes the author took to SUN Wu-kong, and combine the cultural backgrounds of the mid-Ming and the ideology of the author, to reveal the tragic factors and the social meaning of this image.
