A Tentative Study of the Novelistic Elements in the Eposes in the Book of Songs

《诗经》中的诗 ,特别是“十五国风”中的诗 ,虽大多是抒情诗 ,但已出现了一些有情节、有人物 ,具有浓厚故事性色彩的叙事诗。即使是一些抒情诗 ,有的也含有简单的情节和人物的心理活动过程 ,有含蓄优美的景物描写 ,显示出人物的鲜明形象。

The poems in the Book of Songs, especially those ballads, despite most of which are lyrics, are beginning to possess features such as plots, characters and the conspicuous traits of gests. Some of the lyrics even have simple plots, psychological processes of the characters, descriptions of beautiful sceneries, all of which combine to contribute to a graphic manifestation of the images of the characters. Such poems have already embodied many novelistic elements.
