The funding system for rural compulsory education in a country always operates in consistency with the state financial system. On the basis of an analysis of the national financial systems in the USA and Japan, the author elaborates the evolution and present situation of the funding systems for rural compulsory education in the two countries, summarizes their common practices and states the enlightenment to the reform of the funding system for rural compulsory education in China.
