In the past 30 years or so, translation studies have shifted its focus'from the object of translation to the translator as manipulator, from one to multifaceted approach'. The present paper attempts to explore an essential but often overlooked component of literature translation, ie., the translator. According to the hermeneutic theory, translation is not a faithful rendering of the meaning of the original but rather a creative representation. The relationship between the translator and the original text should be that of interaction, negotiation and integration.
