The disyllabification, in essence, the tendensy of having two syllables as a prosodic unit, its result is fusion or division. As a result of fusion two monosyllables in a foot fused into a complex word, and as a result of division a prosodic unit divided into two syntax units (a content word and a function word ). A function word is independent, in utterance, it only cooccurs with another monosyllable in a foot, and they can't fused into a complex word, so this disyllabic form isn't a prosodic word.It is the cause that there are a number of monosyllables continuously in Chinese.
